IBM ILOG Pre-conference Workshop:
Build State-of-the-Art Decision Support Applications

Gustav-Stresemann-Institut, 1st Level, Room S17
Sunday, July 5 - 13:30 - 18:00

This workshop is free and open to academics and practitioners interested in learning about the latest advances in optimization technologies. Seating is limited, so we encourage you to register now at http://www.ilog.com/workshops/euro09/.

Participants will discover the latest features of the ILOG Optimization Suite, the complete system for building custom optimization-based planning and scheduling applications that solve complex business problems, ranging from near real-time scheduling to long-term strategic planning.

IBM ILOG Optimization includes both the IBM ILOG CPLEX engine and the IBM ILOG CP Optimizer (constraint programming engine), the integrated development environment IBM ILOG OPL Studio for mathematical models and the application framework IBM ILOG ODM. It represents a significant advancement in optimization tools allowing end users to try what-if scenarios, explore solution tradeoffs, use soft constraints and automatic relaxations, set multiple goals with tradeoffs and other industry unique capabilities for planning and scheduling applications. With this system, users across industries can harness the power of optimization technology to develop state-of-the-art decision support applications.

This workshop is an opportunity to share experiences and discuss optimization technologies with other OR practitioners, researchers and instructors. Refreshments will be provided, compliments of ILOG. For more information please go to: http://www.ilog.com/workshops/euro09/.

GAMS Conference Workshop
Bonn, July 5, 13:30 - 17:00, Room S30 (Gustav-Stresemann-Institut)

We are happy to invite you to our GAMS workshop at the EURO 2009 in Bonn. The half-day workshop on Sunday is designed to demonstrate the GAMS modeling system together with its productivity tools. There will be a general introduction to the system and a presentation of GAMS' key concepts and recent enhancements. The major part of the workshop consists of hands-on exercises building GAMS models and applications. Guided by our experts you will build sample optimization models from scratch. We will show how easy and flexible GAMS interacts with other applications including MS Office using GDX facilities and tools.

Please bring along your laptop for the hands-on exercises. In order to get started right away, please download the current GAMS Distribution from the GAMS Download Page www.gams.com/download/

AIMMS User Meeting

Optimization Modeling with MPL/MOPS
Bonn, July 5, 2009, 12:30 - 15:00, ROOM S29 (Gustav-Stresemann-Institut)

The workshop focuses on how to build optimization models that can be used to solve real- world business problems. By the end of the seminar, the participants will know how to develop their own optimization models in MPL, link them to data sources and solve the models using state-of-the-art optimization solvers. Participants will also acquire a good working knowledge on how to embed optimization models into applications.

By attending this seminar you will learn how to: The speakers will take you through all the steps of an optimization project using software tools from Maximal Software, MOPS, IBM-ILOG, GUROBI, and ARKI Consulting amongst others.

Workshop Schedule For more details please go to www.maximalsoftware.com/seminar/BonnJul09

Bonn, July 5, 13:00 - 17:00, Room S25 (Gustav-Stresemann-Institut)

This half-day workshop is aimed at academics and practitioners in OR who would like to learn more about how to analyze and improve their models, or see which possibilities there are to implement problem-specific solution algorithms, in particular using recent features of the modeling environment Mosel, the Xpress-Optimizer and other solvers of the Xpress product suite.

Workshop Programme

Part 1: Overview of new features Part 2: Tutorial on modeling and solving optimization problems with Xpress-Mosel

GTS Workshop "An Introduction to Vehicle Routing and Network Planning with the decision Support System TransIT"
Bonn, July 7, 08:00 - 9:20, Room S1 (Gustav-Stresemann-Institut)

GTS Systems and Consulting GmbH invites all participants of the EURO Conference Bonn 2009 to the TransIT workshop. The workshop will introduce vehicle routing and network planning with the decision support system TransIT to academic users. In particular, we will demonstrate how the system can be used for teaching and research.

The workshop is open to all participants of the conference. It will present both the basic functionalities of the system and introduce the accompanying tutorial and interface material. It is not required to register for the workshop. However, for planning purposes, we would appreciate it if you could send an e-mail to info@gts-systems.com
