“The worlds largest cold water geyser”
The carbon dioxide contained in the Geysir Andernach derives from a magma layer of the relatively young volcano area in the East Eifel. Cold water geysers similar to their better known hot water counterparts need a path to reach the surface and eject water. Like many cold water geysers the Geysir Andernach is a drilled well. The Geyser forms a water column up to 40 m high. To visit the geyser you have to take a ship on the Rhine River.

Castle Augustusburg und Castle Falkenlust

Commissioned by the Elector and Archbishop of Cologne - Clemens August von Wittelsbach, three of the period's best architects collaborated on this elegant residence in Brühl. Johann C. Schlaun started with the contruction of the Brühl Castle Augustusburg in 1725 but three years later Francois Cuvilliés was appointed for a redesign into a more modern style. Today especially the garden of Brühl Castle, modeled on Versailles, is popular for those who want to relax in nature. In the hunting lodge of the castle Falkenlust Clemens August could pursue his favourite hobby falconry and entertain guests or occasionally receive lady visitors in the preciously equipped rooms.

“Rurtalsperre (dam) and the middle-aged town of Monschau”
Rurtalsperre: With a 480 m long dam wall and 205 Mio. m
2 capacity it is one of the largest artificial lakes in Germany, surrounded by a wonderful landscape in the heart of the Eifel woods.
Monschau: With its historical Old Town and unique location amidst the famous hedges and impressive scenery of the surrounding Venn region, Monschau is a health climate resort with plenty to offer. As a stroll through its winding alleys will soon reveal, the romantic half-timbered houses harbor a rich mosaic of art, culture and museums.

Radio Telescope Effelsberg
The 100 m telescope in Effelsberg went into operation already in 1972. Yet, even today it is still one of the two largest fully steerable parabolic antennas in the world (Aperture 7.850 m
2, total weight 3.200 t). It can be used to observe the radio emission from objects in the Sky in the wavelength range from 90cm down to 3.5mm.

Nostalgic Volcano Express - Benedictine Abbey of Maria Laach - Nürburgring and Red-Wine-Valley Ahr

Take an exciting ride on the narrow-gauge railway “Volcano Express”, which surmounts a height difference of 400 m during its track of approx. 18 km with an average velocity of 20 km/h. Exactly the right speed to enjoy the lovely countryside. Visit the famous Benedictine Abbey of Maria Laach. It is situated on the banks of the Laacher See (lake Laach).The abbey was founded in the year of 1093 by the count palatine Heinrich II. (Henry II). The abbey church is one of the most perfect Roman pieces of architecture. After having experienced the famous racing track Nürburgring finally a visit in Germany's so called “Red-Wine-Paradise Ahrtal” with the oldest wine-growers' organisation of the world in Mayschoß and the middle aged town of Ahrweiler rounds off the tour.
